Reddit is testing a new artificial intelligence feature that converts product recommendations from user discussions into shoppable search results, marking the company’s latest effort to expand its advertising and commerce business.

The feature, currently available to a limited group of users in the United States, introduces product carousels within Reddit’s search results. When users type queries such as “best wireless headphones” or “laptop for college,” the platform surfaces relevant products mentioned in community discussions, along with images and pricing pulled from retail partners.
The test reflects Reddit’s push to monetize one of its most distinctive assets: organic user recommendations.
Turning Conversations Into Commerce
Reddit’s AI system analyzes posts and comments across subreddits to identify products that are frequently discussed in response to shopping-related questions. Instead of relying solely on traditional keyword matching, the system interprets context and intent, then links those discussions to retailer product listings.
The result is a search page that combines community insight with direct purchase options. Users can browse the featured products and click through to complete transactions on partner retail sites.
The company said the feature builds on its existing advertising products, including Dynamic Product Ads, which allow brands to promote items based on user interests and activity signals.

By integrating AI-generated shopping results directly into search, Reddit is attempting to shorten the path between recommendation and purchase. The strategy also positions the company to capture a larger share of performance-based advertising spending.
